Business Plan for School Food Service

During my school foodservice rotation we had to create a business plan, and my business plan was with my partner Terrence Riley. We created a business plan on adding a new snack stand to the school foodservice which will allow students to choose healthier options after school rather than fast food.

Falcons Landing is a mobile snack shop with the goal of serving the students of Cornwall Lebanon High School healthy and affordable foods after school. The intent is to provide healthier food options and reduce the financial burden to students at a similar convenience to competitor stores such as Sheetz/Turkey Hill/ Wawa. Falcons Landing will be run by the foodservice department and use the resources already available in the cafeteria. The school nutrition program guidelines, specifically SMART snack standards, will be the guiding criteria used to create healthy snack options for students. A store affiliated with the school is one way to provide nutrition without the steep costs seen at commercial convenience stores.  Falcons Landing will sell the similar products as other convenience stores in the similar packaging sizes; however, quality is going to be healthier as we will be complying to the SMART snack standards. Food items will include lunch boxes, sandwiches, chips, yogurt, protein bars, candy etc.
